The games

Five favourites from home

Ayò

Yorùbá

The seed game of the thinkers. Last seed makes 2 or 3 and you capture back along the row.

Okwe

Igbo

Choose your town's capture rule, from “capture the fours” to the Igbo “opposite 1 or 3”.

Oware

Akan, Ghana

International Abapa tournament rules.

Whot

Card game

Hold on, pick two, pick three, suspension, general market, and call a shape with the Whot 20.

Ludo

Board game

Roll a six to start, send opponents back to the yard, race home.

Ways to play

At the table or across time zones

Against the computer, or pass and play

Three computer strengths, or hand one phone round the table.

Online quick matches

Ratings for each game, played live (60 seconds a turn) or daily (24 hours a turn, with a notification when it's your move).

Private tables

Start a table, share the six-letter code, and up to four people play Whot or Ludo together, wherever they live.

Free to play

Every game, mode and house rule is free

A short ad may play between matches, never during one. A one-time Patron purchase removes ads and unlocks every look. Coins are earned by playing and spent only on looks such as boards, cloths, seeds and card backs. They are never staked or bet, and nothing you buy changes who wins.
